Scriptures to Pray

November 19, 2010

Many friends have committed to pray for us as we get ready to Asia. Many friends have asked us what Scriptures they can pray.  We’re so thankful. Below are some Scriptures that our on our hearts along with some specific things we’d like prayer for. Again…we can’t even express how thankful we are for a community of friends and family that are rallying around and encouraging us.

  • Protection: Psalm 91 & Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the LORD is a strong tower;  The righteous run to it and are safe.” Isaiah 49:25 “I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.”
  • Salvation & Justice to come to South East Asia: Isaiah 42:3-4  ”In faithfulness He will bring forth justice; He will not falter or be discouraged till He establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope.”
  • Wisdom & Strategy from God: Isaiah 42:16 “I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,  along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do;    I will not forsake them.”
  • Peace & protection for our girls while we are traveling: Isaiah 54:13 “Great will be your children’s peace”
  • Emotional strength (especially for mom while being away from girls) and dealing with the injustice of sex trafficking, courage, no fear, power and authority to give life: 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”
  • For the Lord to go before us & prepare the way: Isaiah 45:2 “ I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron”
  • To be given the words to minister life to victims & long term laborers: Isaiah 50:4 “The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed”
  • For the love & presence of God to be experienced in our hearts as we go into such darkness: Romans 8 “If God is for us, who can be against us?…Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?… No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,  neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  • Anointing & authority to bring hope and salvation in Jesus’ Name: Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor”
  • Understanding on the Lord’s grace and power in our lives: 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
  • Finances for the work that needs to be accomplished: Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
  • Faith to obey and believe!: Romans 1:17 “The righteous will live by faith.”
  • For the Name of Jesus to be made great in the nations!  Malachi 1:11 “My name will be great among the nations, from the rising to the setting of the sun. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to my name, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD Almighty.”

Thank you! Thank you! Love, love, love!
