Asia Questions Answered
As we prepare to leave in February we’ve been asked a few questions many times so we thought we’d just put the answers out here for all to see! Thanks for your prayers and friendship.
// Are you taking our daughters with you?
No, we are not taking the girls…we will take them on missions but not this time. But please do pray for them. They are going to miss us and they are being very brave in “sharing mommy and daddy” with kids that need help.
// Why are you going?
South East Asia is a hub for sex trafficking. We refuse to look the other way while children are being sold. If we don’t respond, who will? Sex trafficking does occur in our very own state and we are exploring our options to get involved locally in this cause. Overseas victims are not privileged to a legal system that is…legal. Many times police officers aid in the selling of young girls and the laws that are there to protect are just not accessible to the poor. No one will standup for them. For this reason, it is important that non-governments organizations come in and work alongside the law to ensure justice and safety to victims and those that are susceptible to trafficking.
We want to share some truths that are very significant to us:
- “There are two standards by which we judge events—near and far. If it’s near to us, we care about it. If it’s afar, and on the happening on the other side of the world, we have difficulty working up concern about it.” – Alexander Solzhenitsyn
- “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked” – God (Psalm 82)
// Who are you going with?
We will be working with long-term, experienced missionaries that have developed successful projects in evangelism, discipleship, outreach and justice.
// What will you actually be doing?
We will go to orphanages (safe kids = not susceptible to trafficking) and aftercare homes (ministries that provide safety and reintegration to society after a victim has been rescued from the sex trade). We will go to refuges of hope that rescue from and prevent trafficking. We will assess the need firsthand and formulate, with God’s direction, a strategic plan to combat injustice to a greater degree.
// What do you still need?
Consistent prayers of faith. Funding.

these were some of MY questions!
i’m really excited for you, yeller. i know how much missions means to you and how long you’ve waited on God’s release to go… i know this trip is significant in so many ways. i’m committed to praying for you as you go… and for your girls as they stay.
love you.
Thanks, friend! I figured that as many times as we had been asked those questions that many more people had the same ones. Thank you for your encouragement and prayers. And for knowing how big of a deal this is to me! Hugs. Love you!

I admire what you guys are doing! Before blogging I did a lot of emailing of articles about trafficking to try to get people’s attention. I talk about it in junior college classes I teach, and have even had students do reports on it. Serious, serious problem. Thank you for your work for these kids/women!
I’ve recently written 2 blog posts on trafficking in this country: Why Johnny Can’t Come Home.
God bless your work. wb
I am praying for you, Yeller – and for all that this trip means, on so many levels – for those you will reach with His light, and for the work He is birthing through your hands, and the vision you carry in your heart.
I’ll be praying for your girls as well… and for strength as they share you!!
Hugs to you… and much love!
